BIOGRAPHY

Growing up in the Bega Valley, the story goes that the young singer-songwriter and one of a kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a 5-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he finished school, turned professional and hit the road without looking back.

The following 15 years have seen him independently release 7 studio albums, tour relentlessly around the globe, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun and share stages with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, INXS, John Butler, Lucinda Williams, Ani DiFranco, Judy Collins and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

He has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed” and from January to March 2024, music lovers in NSW, VIC and QLD will be treated to and intimate live experience not to be missed!

WHAT THE PRESS SAY..
“The word Prodigy seems to entirely fall short of this soft-spoken young man’s skills, he coaxes sounds and melodies out of his instrument that literally drop jaws.” The Calgary Herald, CANADA
“Today I saw the future of Folk – Festival goers flocking in the thousands towards the main stage to witness a young musical phenomenon from Australia dish out an absolute show-stopper.” The Firefly Column, USA

“Daniel Champagne is a crossroads. Fusing the strong traditions of Blues, Folk and other roots art with pop showmanship and admirable lyrical ability. I firmly believe that he will become an ambassador for roots music in a time where it desperately needs representation.” The Indie Blender, CANADA

“reinventing roots guitar” Rhythms Magazine, AUSTRALIA

“Watching Daniel Champagne perform is a once in a lifetime experience. He is a true prodigy that plays like no one else could possibly play unless they spent at least two lifetimes studying the art.” BW Review, NEW ZEALAND

“Daniel Champagne exudes a natural ease on stage, as he sings poignant lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies that invariably whisk the heart up with grand romanticism. Coupled with an exhilarating guitar talent that transcends mere acoustic playing to replicate a whole band, Champagne is just magical” Themusic.com.au, AUSTRALIA

"You feel as if he just invented the instrument yesterday and was discovering its possibilities afresh” Ted Gioia (American jazz critic and music historian)

Sam Buckingham’s DEAR JOHN Tour is back, by popular demand.

Since releasing her 2022 album, Buckingham has graced main stages at Woodford and Queenscliff Music Festivals, embarked on a six week tour with the Festival of Small Halls, and headlined a sold out 34 date national tour to celebrate the album’s release.

She’s also toured alongside Kate Miller-Heidke, Paul Kelly, Katie Noonan, Tim Freedman, The Whitlams and Ben Lee.

Now - for the album's fourth and final lap around the country - she’ll share the album favourites in intimate, acoustic mode - and add in a handful of stunning new songs that haven’t yet been released.

DEAR JOHN debuted at #2 on the AIR Independent Album Charts, and was created after the dramatic ending of a toxic relationship.

"The breakup was what started me writing these songs but, in the end, the songs aren't really about the relationship at all. This album documents my process of healing, learning and rising up to become the woman I want to be. These are my stories and it's important to share them... because I know they're other people's stories too.”

Expect storytelling, expertly crafted songwriting, and a show that will leave you feeling bigger on the inside.

Book early - these shows have been selling out!

“Iconic” - Kia Handley, ABC

ASH GRUNWALD ANNOUNCES NEW NATIONAL TOUR! And he's coming to Tomakin too...

SATURDAY 16 SEPTEMBER 2023
SMOKEY DAN'S, TOMAKIN NSW
DOORS 5:00PM
With Corey Legge and Melanie Horsnell

A journeyman, storyteller, and troubadour at heart, Australia’s foremost bluesman Ash Grunwald has inspired a generation to hit the road in an old beat-up Bedford to ‘surf by day jam by night’. With six Australian Top-50 albums to his credit, alongside five ARIA and four AIR Award Nominations, two APRA Awards, and gong for Best International Act at the LA Music Critic Awards in 2014, Grunwald is cast in bronze among Australia’s most successful blues musicians.

Enshrined by Australian folklore, live on stage, Grunwald rocks the house yet touches the soul, serving a tsunami of dance, beats, roots, bass ‘n’ blues. Throughout his career, Ash has supported legends James Brown, The Black Keys, Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd, and Keith Urban, among numerous others, and played sold out festivals across Europe, Japan, and North America.

In 2022, Ash released his 11th studio album – Shout Into the Noise – which is widely regarded as his best record to date, following his critically acclaimed and smash-hit collaboration with Josh Teskey, which was somewhat paradoxically entitled Push The Blues Away (2020).

This year, Grunwald consecrates his 10th appearance at Bluesfest with a new record in its honour. Featuring the wizardry of Ian Peres (Wolfmother, Bernhard Fanning, The Whitlams) alongside the tropical ambassador of harmony and groove, Bobby Alu (Xavier Rudd), tracked live to tape by Nick DiDia (Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine), this new record by Grunwald is curated from a career spanning twenty-years to commemorate his tenth appearance at Bluesfest earlier this year.

Having recently emerged from the studio, working with acclaimed LA-based producer Justin Stanley (Prince, Paul McCartney, Beck, Eric Clapton, Gary Clarke Jnr.) on a reimagination of ‘Tell It Like It Is’, Ash has a plethora of projects in the pipeline. "A small town troubadour in her element....."

NSW Folk Federation Young Folk Artist of the Year (2020) and graduate of the renowned Talent Development Project, Felicity Dowd has always believed a song is only as good as its story.
A passionate singer-songwriter and storyteller, she uses her acoustic performances to tell stories that intertwine the experiences of the world around her, portraying them through a youthful contemporary lens. Inspired by an eclectic and ever-changing landscape of Country, Folk, Blues, Jazz and Pop influences her music is diverse, drifting between the boundaries of genre within her unique repertoire of modern classics and original compositions.

“Felicity Dowd is a deep thinker and truly authentic performer. She writes songs that have meaning and sings with soul!”
~ Lyn Bowtell, 9 time Golden Guitar Winner and Toyota Starmaker.

“I have been involved in the performance and production of live music events for over 45 years. Over the last 5 years or so, Felicity Dowd has done many gigs for me in various settings. She is very talented as a songwriter and musician and has a wonderful ability to relate to any audience. I thoroughly recommend her as a professional, as a performer, as a person.”
